Dog Poses from an Expert

yoga dogsHumans are not the only ones who can enjoy Yoga. Our animal companions are in fact the inspiration for many traditional asanas. Think Dog, Cobra, Tortoise, Eagle, Cow, Cat, Pigeon, Rabbit, Crow, etc.

Last month we posted a photo of Pushkin the orange tabby demonstrating a Savasana sandwich. At that time we sent out a call for photos of your animal companions practicing Yoga.

Mary Wilburn sent us some photos of her dog, Ziggy, practicing dog Yoga. Here’s how she describes Ziggy’s Yoga practice:

“Ziggy immediately plants himself on my mat whenever I roll it out. I have gotten to the point where I roll out a 2nd mat for him. But he does not require a mat for his Yoga moves: He automatically does a downward dog and an upward dog before our walks and when he awakens from his many naps.”

If your animal friends practice dog Yoga, cat Yoga, rabbit Yoga, horse Yoga or any other species of Yoga, send us your photos and a description of their practice, and we’ll post them on our blog!
