My Para Rubber Yoga Mat
I expected movie love. I wanted to fall head over heels in love with my brand new Para Rubber Yoga Mat. But that was not to be. I packed up my Para Mat and took her for an inaugural four-day retreat, banking on the fact that I would adore it. I actually spent a lot of that retreat thinking how much I regretted bringing her. We practiced for more than 15 hours over the course of the retreat. Think how nice it was for me to have something to vent my frustrations over (my mat).
I didn’t expect to want to use this mat after the retreat but something funny happened. Somewhere along the way my new mat became my friend. I found myself continually choosing the Para mat, loving the support the thick mat supplies, the firm grip even when I start to get sweaty. Class after class I continue pack my Para mat. My relationship has evolved from that first retreat to a beautiful friendship.

“I fell in love with yoga … HARD. That was more than 10 years ago. I had tried every sport you can imagine: swimming, running, Zumba—you name it. All of these left me feeling inept, not good enough, even weak. I walked into my first yoga class not expecting much. Yoga was different; it wasn’t a competition. There were no fast moves crossing your left foot over your right, only to realize you are on the wrong side. Yoga spoke to my body and I listened. I became a yoga instructor in 2013 in the Baptiste Methodology, and it is my goal to share yoga with everyBODY—no matter how flexible you are or aren’t, no matter how strong. Yoga has literally broken open my protective shell, opening me to new and amazing possibilities.”
