To clean, use a mat wash or wipe the surface down with a warm, wet towel. Air-dry out of direct sunlight. Do not machine wash or soak in water. Color will fade if kept in direct sunlight.
Some people can be sensitive to the smell of natural rubber. It will become less noticeable after the mat has been aired out and wiped down for a few days, and will continue to dissipate over time.

I love my mat. I love the grip. So many mats I slide not, this one. I love the color too.
I have been practicing hot yoga on a Lululemon 5mm mat for around seven years. However, I wanted to gift myself a vibrant new mat because I have been really excited about practicing recently. After hours upon hours of reviews, I decided to order the Para Rubber mat in Alpine. It is the same thickness of my older mat but is much heavier, slightly more narrow, and shorter in length. Because I am tall and like to take up space, the standard mat size was not quite what I needed. I was also really excited about the color of the mat, but it arrived as a deeper teal color than the alpine color displayed on the website. I tried the mat in both a regular and hot yoga session. The grip during the regular session was good. I sweat a lot, so the grip during hot yoga was less than ideal. I ended up spending a significant amount of time readjusting my hands and feet because they kept sliding all over the place. I am bummed to say this because I was really excited about this mat, but I will be sticking to my old mat.
The Hugger Mugger Para Rubber Mat is the best mat on the market. The grip is superior as is the cushioning. I also love the gentle cascade of colors. I practice Hot Yoga, Gentle Vinyasa, Yin, Power Vinyasa, Restorative and Chair yoga and this mat suits all of my needs. As with all natural tree rubber products, there is going to be an initial scent, but it dissipates. Originally, I was on the fence about buying it and was going to purchase another Manduka EKO. I am soooo happy I chose the Hugger Mugger Para Rubber Mat instead. No more searching for the perfect mat.
I’ve had the performance mat for over 10 years and I have loved it. Although, I figured as a long time yoga teacher and practitioner, it was time to try a new mat and it’s this gorgeous Para Rubber Mat in the beautiful Alpine color. Can I just say, I’m in love! This mat has the greatest grip I have ever laid hands on, and the color itself makes me feel like a mermaid. You can feel the quality of the mat in your practice and it feels like my new mat will be with me for many more years of yoga!
I bought this mat looking for a high-grip but I find myself slipping around on the mat even at the beginning of my practice. Mat has great cushion and a pretty pattern and good reviews from others so not sure if this is just a product defect.
