Our previous site offered a classic e-commerce layout with product pages for mats, bolsters, props, and more, but the navigation and performance were built on an older platform with limited flexibility.

The new Shopify site features a modern, intuitive structure where categories like Mats, Bolsters & Meditation, Props, Carriers, and Wellness are clearly organized in an easy-to-scan menu. This makes exploring the full range of products - from eco-friendly mats to meditation cushions - faster and more enjoyable than ever.

2. Simpler Product Discovery

One of the biggest upgrades on the new site is advanced search functionality. On our previous website, finding a specific product often meant clicking through multiple categories or scrolling through long pages.

With the new Shopify-powered site, search works smarter. As you type, results update in real time, helping you quickly find products by name, category, or use. Whether you’re looking for a standard bolster, a travel mat, or a specific color or material, search now guides you there in seconds.

It’s designed to reduce friction, save time, and help you get exactly what you need—without the extra digging.

3. Shopify-Powered Checkout

One of the biggest improvements with the new site is the checkout experience. Powered by Shopify, a platform used by millions of brands worldwide, checkout is now faster. 

4. Better Account Management

With the platform change, customer accounts are handled differently. On the old site, accounts were tied to a legacy system that couldn’t be carried over directly. The new Shopify accounts offer easier login tools, straightforward password resets, and a smoother way to view your order history, once you’ve activated your account with your existing email. 

Setting up is easy:

• Click on the Account Icon

• Choose Create Account

• Use the same email address you’ve always used with Hugger Mugger

• Click "Continue". Enter the code sent to your email address

Once activated, you’ll be able to manage your account and view your order history moving forward. And if you prefer not to create an account, guest checkout is always available, so you can still shop the way that works best for you.

5. More Responsive Design

The old site served its purpose well for many years, but performance and mobile responsiveness lagged behind more modern standards. The Shopify platform brings faster page loads and a cleaner look on devices of all sizes, making it simpler for yogis on phones and tablets to browse and checkout with ease.

In addition to browsing and buying products, the new site integrates helpful guides and resources, like yoga mat care tips and prop usage suggestions, right beside product categories. These tools are designed to support your practice, whether you’re a first-timer or seasoned teacher.

By answering a few quick questions about your practice, like where you practice, how much grip you need, and whether you travel with your mat, the quiz guides you to the best mat for your needs.
