At Hugger Mugger, we love shining a light on the yoga communities that inspire us every day. We’re thrilled to feature The Heart Yoga Studio - A place to “do the work.” Not just yoga, not just movement, but the deeper work of remembering and connecting with our most authentic selves.
Q: Tell us a little about your studio's journey. How did it all begin?
My path here and to yoga in general started how a lot of self-exploration and healing journeys start — with suffering and hitting a real rock bottom. There was a season of my life where, on paper, I had everything… Harvard degree, high-paying job, beautiful wife, healthy body, great friends and family… and yet I felt completely lost. My depression and anxiety were debilitating, fueled by years of aversion, misalignment, regretful decisions, and fear-fueled inaction, I felt hopelessness and despair, and like I couldn’t find a way out. Of course, that is when yoga really found me. The yoga practice that is far beyond the poses. It resonated so deeply it felt like real truth, and for the first time in a long while, I started to be able to take back control of the way I was responding to life. It felt like an actual blueprint for facing my suffering and finding ease and joy. So I went deeper… I committed to healing, completed my yoga teacher training and a 2-year mindfulness instructor program, and developed my own personal practice, It changed my life in ways that I will forever be grateful for. And all I wanted to do was help others find their own path and practice.

A few things genuinely set us apart. We run seven community classes a week at just $8 a drop-in — one every single day — because we believe a real ‘third space’ should be accessible to everyone. Our offerings are highly intentional and led by a truly amazing and diverse team of teachers, all of whom have at least 500 hours of formal training and their own unique styles. We believe strongly in the power of sound healing and incorporate it heavily into what we offer. And we’ve truly rewritten what a yoga membership looks like, with perks like FREE workshops, multiple weekly sound experiences, one-on-one access to a full-time Director of Education, multiple guest passes a month, and unlimited pausing.
