Studio Spotlight: The Space Yoga Studio

At Hugger Mugger, we love shining a light on the yoga communities that inspire us every day.
This month, we’re thrilled to feature The Space Yoga Studio — their mission is to provide a welcoming and inspiring space for everyone, for all students at all levels, and for all phases of life. A place to connect, share, support, deepen, and explore oneself on and off the mat.

Q: Tell us a little about The Space Yoga Studio journey. How did it all begin?
Since its inception in February 2016, The Space Yoga Studio has strived to create a unique, community-focused environment that nurtures both body and soul. Founded by Kristen McQuaide, the vision behind the studio grew from a desire to fill a local gap — a need for a space that exudes belonging, inclusivity, and warmth, regardless of where you are in your journey.

Our mission is clear and heartfelt: to provide a welcoming, inspiring space for everyone. We invite all students, at every level and phase of life, to come together — to connect, share, support, deepen, and explore their inner selves both on and off the mat.

This blend of community spirit and personal empowerment is what sets us apart and continues to inspire every class session at The Space Yoga Studio.

Q: What makes your studio unique? What kind of yoga do you specialize in?
At The Space Yoga Studio, we truly enjoy engaging with our community and students. Many friendships have been formed at our little sweet space. As for classes, we offer Hot Vinyasa, Hot Yin, Non-Heated Yoga for all levels, Hot Pilates, Barre Class, Aerial Yoga, and our newest express workout — our very own HIIT class called “CUT CLASS”!

Q: How would you describe your community?
Here in the Central Valley, our community is extremely loving, encouraging, and impactful. We have the opportunity to partner with other small businesses often, to collaborate and bring more health and wellness practices to our people here.

Q: Do you have a favorite Hugger Mugger product you use in your classes?
We absolutely love our Hugger Mugger Cork Blocks and Bolsters!

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d share with someone who’s new to yoga?
Yoga is not a competition. There is space for everyone. We all belong in our human family. We each can cultivate our own practice. It’s not about “conquering” advanced poses — it’s about connecting the mind, body, and breath, working together to bring you closer to the Divine. Yoga is for everyone.

Q: What’s next for The Space Yoga Studio?
We will continue to do what we love — teach others how to live in their own lovely humanness through yoga, meditation, pranayama, and pilates. We envision expanding our offerings to include Lifestyle Medicine Practitioners, Yoga Therapists, Talk Therapists, Ayurvedic Wellness Counselors, and Massage Therapists.
